From June 28 to 30, the 11th International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU) Workshop on PCNL & f-URS was held in Guangzhou. Young doctors from 16 countries gathered at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. At the three-day conference held both online and offline, the latest research findings in urolithiasis were unveiled to the world through live streaming, which attracted widespread attention from international urolithiasis researchers.
As the President and Secretary-General of IAU and the host of this workshop, Professor Zeng Guohua delivered a lecture and conducted live demonstrations. During the lecture, a participant asked if there were techniques to alleviate shoulder pain caused by long surgeries. Professor Zeng responded by suggesting the use of a lightweight and easy-to-grip Single-use Video Ureteroscope and maintaining a sitting position during the procedure, with the left elbow supported by the leg rest of the operating table.
As stated by Professor Zeng, Chinese experts made breakthrough progress in urolithiasis in recent years, accumulating rich clinical experience and making research innovations and technological improvements. These achievements have gained international recognition. The hosting of this workshop and the growth of IAU further demonstrate China’s rise on the global medical stage.
